My Teaching Philosophies
DRAWING
My philosophy in teaching Drawing is “Good Starts Makes Good Art”. To draw what you see, the first minutes are essential to get the overall placement of main elements. When the major elements are loosely laid out, the drawing can be refined and developed.
PAINTING
When teaching a Beginners Watercolor class my first goal is not to create art; I feel the lessons must start with the fundamentals. First controlling the brush and then controlling the water and paints on the paper. These are important to achieve the true beauty of watercolor that we all admire
Providing the basic building blocks, basic skills, and techniques through the use of projected images, visual aids, demonstrations, and one-on-one instruction provides students with confidence so they can continue to build their skills independently and through other workshops and instruction in their future.
When students become comfortable controlling the medium they can create the art they are imagining!
